Privacy policy

The short version
- No accounts, no sign-up, no cookies, no analytics, no ads, no tracking.
- We don’t keep logs of who visits or which pages you open.
- The Second Life data shown here comes from the public world map. Avatars are only counted, never named, and parcel owners are not stored.
What Inworld Map is
Inworld Map is an independent website that shows every region of Second Life on one map: names, maturity ratings, how many avatars are around right now, parcels for sale and a likely language for each place. It is built from the information that the Second Life world map makes available to anyone, without entering any region.
Data about Second Life places
For each region we store what the public world map shows:
- region name, map position and maturity rating;
- the number of avatars and their rough position inside the region (the green dots of the in-world minimap). We never receive or store avatar names or identities;
- the name, description, area, traffic and snapshot of the parcel at the region center, and the name, size and price of parcels listed for sale, exactly as their owners published them;
- a guess of the language used in the place, worked out from that public text.
We deliberately do not store who owns a parcel, and the site has no way to list the land of a person or group.
If you own a parcel and want its name, description or snapshot removed from Inworld Map, email [email protected] with the region and parcel name. We will remove it from the site.
Data about you, the visitor
- No accounts or forms. We never ask for your name, email or Second Life username.
- No cookies. See the cookie policy.
- No analytics or tracking. There are no third-party scripts, pixels or trackers. All scripts and styles are served from our own server.
- IP address. Like any website, our server sees your IP address to send you the page. It is used only in memory, for up to one minute, to apply the API rate limit (120 requests per minute). It is not written to a database or to access logs.
- Error logs. If something breaks, the server logs the time, the address that failed and the error, without your IP address.
- Your theme choice. If you switch between light and dark mode, the choice is saved in your own browser (local storage), never sent to us.
Cloudflare
inworldmap.com is delivered through Cloudflare, which carries the traffic, provides HTTPS and protects the site from attacks. To do that, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details on our behalf; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We keep Cloudflare features that add tracking, analytics or extra scripts turned off.
Images from Linden Lab
Map tiles and parcel snapshots are loaded by your browser directly from Linden Lab’s servers (secondlife-maps-cdn.akamaized.net and picture-service.secondlife.com). As with any image on the web, those servers receive your IP address and browser details. This is covered by Linden Lab’s privacy policy. Teleport links take you to maps.secondlife.com or open your Second Life viewer.
Your rights
Because we don’t collect personal data about visitors, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you believe we hold information about you (for example, in a parcel description you wrote), contact us and we’ll handle it promptly. This applies whatever data protection law covers you, including the GDPR and Brazil’s LGPD.
Age
Inworld Map is meant for adults. Some places are rated Adult, and their public names and descriptions may contain adult language.
